The National Library Workers’ Committee provides advice on how CUPE can support library workers in public libraries, special libraries, school libraries and academic libraries in colleges and universities across Canada. It monitors privatization and contracting out in the library sector and provides advice on strategies to fight back against these threats.
The committee also discusses new and emerging issues in the sector including new workplace technologies, workload, health and safety, violence in public workplaces, and intellectual property.
