A new collective agreement has been signed by CUPE 1322 in Amos, in the Abitibi region of Quebec. The local includes 117 members who are white-collar and blue-collar workers, crossing guards and professionals. The employment contract covers the five-year period from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2028.
“The negotiations lasted only a few months,” said Geneviève Carrier, CUPE union advisor. This shows “just how much the culture at the Ville d’Amos is changing, becoming more modern and ever more appealing, both for its citizens and its current and future staff.”
The salary clauses include the following increases: 3% + 1% flat rate for 2024; 3% for 2025; 3% for 2026; 2.25% for 2027; and 2.25% for 2028. In addition, there are top-ups for floating holidays, public holidays, the dynamic overtime bank, and premiums.
A number of non-monetary clauses have also been improved: the four-day or four-and-a-half-day schedule, depending on the position; some aspects of staffing for positions and temporary assignments; leave-taking procedures; and the creation of a bank of holiday hours.
And lastly, on the subject of group insurance, the parties will be working together to reduce costs. This will enable the union to determine the terms of the master policy with the employer.
