With yesterday’s protest at B.C. Social Development Minister Harry Bloy’s office, concerned parents, self-advocates, and other citizens are ramping up their efforts to restore the $70 million in cuts to critical services provided by Community Living BC.
The grassroots, parent-led initiative to fight CLBC cuts includes a petition that CUPE members are encouraged to sign and pass on.
At yesterday’s event, the group set up an information picket at the corner of Cameron and North road in Burnaby B.C., just outside Minister Bloy’s MLA office. The protest was highly visible to early morning rush hour commuters, and several people signed the petition and a form letter to Premier Christy Clark.
The parent-organized event also raised awareness about the BC Community Living Action Group (CLAG) and its public awareness campaign.
