435 frontline, administrative and support workers from the Children’s Aid Society of the Region of Peel (Peel CAS) will return to the job on Monday, December 19, ending a 13-week strike.

Our members could not be happier to go back to work,” said Sonia Yung, President of Local 4914 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE 4914). “Our focus has always been on the children and families of Peel and now we can return to our job of giving the highest level of care possible.”

The strike ended after Peel CAS agreed to CUPE 4914’s request to reach an agreement on their outstanding issues through binding arbitration. “Now the important thing is getting back to work and letting the arbitration process continue while our members focus on what is important, the children and families of Peel who rely on our service.” said Yung.
