Victor Elkins is the president of the Hospital Employees’ Union, representing 43,000 health care workers across British Columbia. Prior to being elected president in 2012, Victor became a member of the HEU provincial executive in 2006. He has also held many positions on his local executive, most recently serving as assistant secretary-treasurer.

Before becoming HEU president, Victor worked as a cardiac perfusion assistant at the BC Children’s Hospital. A long-time activist, Victor has spent more than two decades advocating for and defending public health care, workers’ rights, and human rights. He has run as a federal New Democratic Party candidate, and continues to be actively involved in provincial and federal politics, as well as in his community.
