CUPE is committed to creating a union environment that is inclusive and welcoming to all members. That means that we must address harassment, discrimination, bullying and intimidation when it happens within the union.

If you have been impacted by harassment or discrimination at CUPE, there are options available for you.

The Safer Union Spaces Office, also known as SUSO, offers confidential support and services.

It can help you respond to harassment, discrimination, gender-based violence, and complex conflict within CUPE.

We advocate for fairness and for a union where the dignity and human rights of all members are respected and upheld.

If you’re not sure what to do or where to turn, a good place to start is with the Safer Union Spaces Office. You can talk with the casework specialists about what happened.

You can reach out to get more information emailing saferspaces@cupe.ca.

Determining Your Support Path

Our office offers different avenues to find the support you need.

We also provide referrals to appropriate services and resources. If your concern falls outside the scope of the Safer Union Spaces Office, we will try to connect you with alternate support.

Safe CUPE spaces

The Safer Union Spaces Office provides support to people who have experienced harassment or discrimination at CUPE events or in CUPE spaces. It does not address complaints related to CUPE members’ workplaces.

If you have experienced harassment or discrimination at work, contact your steward or local executive.
