Yesterday evening at a general membership meeting, over 150 inside workers from Ville de Brossard voted 81.3% in favour of the new tentative agreement.
“Overall, we are pleased with this new seven-year contract. We will comment further once the municipal council has had a chance to review the details,” explained Karine Laprise, president of CUPE 306. “But we can say that we reached our objective of getting recognition for the contribution made by inside workers employed by the city.”
Broadly, the tentative agreement introduces a new wage structure and includes attractive wage increases, improved vacation entitlements and additional days off.
The previous agreement had expired in 2022.
Local 306 includes employees working for five cities in the urban agglomeration of Longueuil: Boucherville, Brossard, Saint-Lambert, Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville and Longueuil, which includes the boroughs of Greenfield Park, Saint-Hubert and Le Vieux-Longueuil, the latter of which includes the former city of Le Moyne.
