ST. JOHN’S, NF – Employees of St. John’s Sports and Entertainment have voted to accept a new, four-year collective agreement.

CUPE National Representative Ed White said, “The 46 members of Local 569-01 have ratified their new contract by 84 per cent.”

The deal includes the following wage increases:

• July 1/10 - 4.5 per cent
• July 1/11 - 4.5 per cent
• July 1/12 - 3.5 per cent
• July 1/13 - 3.5 per cent

White says the parties were unable to reach agreement on implementing the results of a CUPE Job Evaluation (JE) program. However they used the results of the JE to implement wage adjustments for ticket sellers, the staff accountant, senior ticketing agent and electrician classifications.

The parties reached the tentative agreement on Friday, October 22 through Conciliation at the NL Labour Relations Agency. The union represents ticket sellers, conversion crews, office staff, maintenance staff and power engineers at Mile One.
