Iris has been a CUPE member in the education sector since 2007, holding various positions her local executive.
In 2014, Iris was elected the youngest first female President of the Saint John District Labour Council. Iris has been a member facilitator for CUPE National and enjoyed teaching new and young activists within our organization the importance of unions and belonging to CUPE.
Iris has sat as a representative to the National Women’s Committee on behalf of New Brunswick.
In 2017, Iris was accepted into the Labour College of Canada and was a successful Cohort 1 Graduate.
In 2019, Iris was elected president of the New Brunswick Council of School District Unions, CUPE 1253, becoming the youngest president of the local.
In 2021, Iris led CUPE 1253 on strike fighting for better wages and protecting our pension.
In 2025, CUPE New Brunswick delegates elected Iris as the youngest Division President.
In Oct of 2025, Iris was elected as the Regional Vice-President for New Brunswick on the National Executive Board.
