CUPE 998, the union representing Manitoba Hydro’s technical and clerical workers has successfully ratified a new collective agreement, reached at the table without any labour disruption. The three-year agreement provides wage increases of 9.5%, along with additional increases for the lowest-paid and long-service employees, bringing the total value of the agreement to 12% over its term.
“I am happy to have a new Collective Agreement that our membership voted in favour of,” said Michelle Bergen, president of CUPE 998. “It was really important to us that members be treated equally and not divided.”
The agreement was strongly supported by members with 82% voting in favour and an 80% turnout rate. “I want to congratulate the members at CUPE 998 on getting a good deal that reflects fairness for all members,” said Gina McKay, president of CUPE Manitoba. “We know when we stick together, we can get agreements that bring us all forward together.”
The new CUPE 998 collective agreement is in effect until December 31, 2027.
