SALMON ARM, BC—Members of CUPE 5035, workers at Community Futures Group Shuswap elected their executive board last week.
“Small businesses, entrepreneurs and people seeking employment appreciate the services we provide in the Shuswap region,” newly-elected president Tanja Carlson says. “We wish all our clients and community members a happy holiday and a prosperous New Year.”
The following were elected to CUPE 5035’s executive board: president, Tanja Carlson; vice-president, Trena Scott; secretary-treasurer, Carol McGillivray; and recording secretary, Mavis Cole.
“I’m pleased to welcome this group of women and men to the Canadian Union of Public Employees,” says CUPE National Representative Mitch Guitard. “The energy and commitment these folks bring to this community will contribute to the work CUPE does in communities throughout British Columbia.”
CUPE 5035 joined the Canadian Union of Public Employees at the end of October and represent 10 working women and men who provide a wide range of services from the office at 101 – 160 Harbourside Drive NE in Salmon Arm. Services include business counselling, business loans and development programs, self-employment programs, and community economic development to help communities find local solutions to complex social and economic issues.
