CUPE members in Canadian cities can join a worldwide vigil on March 6 to protest the “disappeared, displaced, massacred and executed” in Colombia, the world’s most dangerous country for trade unionists.

“In Colombia nearly 4 million persons have been displaced,” says a poster promoting the vigil. “More than 15,000 persons” have disappeared. More than “1,700 indigenous peoples, 2,500 union members and nearly 5,000 members of the Union Patriotica movement” have been murdered. And “tens of thousands of Afro-Colombians and peasants” have been forced from their land.

The National Committee of Victims of State Crimes in Colombia is sponsoring the vigil in collaboration with the social and human rights organizations associated with the Colombia Movement of Victims of State Crimes (MOVICE).
