“Dead in the water,” a two hour documentary on water privatization, will air on CBC’s The Fifth Estate, Wednesday March 31st at 8pm.

From the write-up for the documentary:

There’s a problem with the world’s water supply. The amount of fresh water available for human use is less than 0.08% of all the water on this planet. A group of multinational corporations has been attempting to corner the market in the delivery of that water.

From Moncton, New Brunswick to Atlanta, Georgia and Buenos Aires, Argentina and Soweto, South Africa, the fifth estate’s Linden MacIntyre investigates the results of this effort to privatize what was once considered a public trust. What he found is that in some places “private water” has worked, but, in others the result has been nothing short of disastrous.
