$20 million concessions package seeks to save jobs and protect hospital dietary services

VANCOUVER COASTAL’S consideration of HEU’s $20 million concessions proposal, aimed at saving jobs and protecting the quality of hospital food services in that region, is expected to continue into the new year.

The concessions package, which was submitted during the health authority’s Request for Proposals process in late October, is currently being measured against the bids of two vendors on the authority’s short-list.

Although Value In executive director David Handley had hoped the process would wrap up before Christmas, he recently informed the union that the financial evaluation will take more time than originally anticipated.

HEU submitted the proposal following a meeting of affected members in early October.
