(Halifax) – With the members of CUPE Local 5047 rejecting a final offer from the employer last night, the union today is cautiously optimistic. CUPE was advised this morning that the Halifax Regional School Board has requested a return to the bargaining table.

President Ian Wilson is pleased with this move and is hopeful that the parties will find common ground and resolve the outstanding matters between them.

National Representative Marianne Welsh says, “It has always been our position that a fair agreement can be reached through negotiation.” She confirms that conciliation talks will resume on April 4th.
