Kamsack, SK: CUPE members who work for the Town of Kamsack walked off the job this afternoon to demonstrate their anger over the employers final offer.

We have been bargaining for nearly three years and the employer is still insisting on cuts, concessions and takeaways, says union spokesperson Bill Cronin. Our members are fed-up.

At a meeting last night CUPE members voted overwhelmingly to reject the employers final contract offer, which contained a long list of concessions, including giving the employer the right to fire probationary employees without just cause.

We havent been at the bargaining table for nearly three years so we can take a giant step backwards, says Cronin.

The Local hopes todays walk-out serves as a wake-up call to the employer.
