TORONTO The Society of Energy Professionals, the Ontario Electricity Coalition (OEC) and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Ontario will hold a joint news conference to critique the Liberal governments new Electricity Restructuring Act, on:

Speakers at the news conference will include Andrew Ml006c00650072002c president of the Society of Energy Professionals, Sid Ryan, the president of CUPE Ontario, and Paul Kahnert, an OEC spokesperson.

The three speakers will voice concerns that the new legislation will privatize Ontarios energy system piece by pieceleaving it open to NAFTA challenges, and gradually sacrificing system reliability and affordability to the priorities of foreign investors.

The Society of Energy Professionals represents professional employees in the electricity industry. CUPE Ontario is Ontarios largest union, representing 180,000 workers across the province. The Ontario Electricity Coalition is a broad based coalition of seniors, environmental groups, labour organizations, and social justice groups.
