A tentative agreement was reached last April 29 between the Société de gestion du réseau informatique des commissions scolaires (GRICS) (School Board IT System Management Corporation) and CUPE 3005, which represents close to 300 members.
The workers had been without a contract since August 14, 2019. It took a year and nine months of negotiations for the parties to come to an agreement to renew the collective agreement. Numerous challenges arose due to the pandemic and the fact that talks had to take place virtually.
Terms of the agreement are confidential for the time being, since it has not yet been presented to the membership or to the GRICS executive committee. A virtual general meeting has been scheduled for next June 17.
CUPE 3005 mainly represents office staff, administrative, telephone support and IT technicians along with system administrators, analysts, education specialists and developers.
