Montra006c, Friday, June 14, 2002 – After several months of bargaining, the union representing the 2,800 specialists and professionals at Hydro-Qub0065c has just concluded a tentative agreement with the government corporation to renew the collective agreement. As of today, the union will be holding a series of meetings to submit this agreement for the approval of all its members throughout the province. If accepted by the members, the new collective agreement will remain in force until December 31, 2004.

The tentative agreement foresees wage increases of 3% for 2002 and 3% for 2003, as well as the adjustment of bonuses, premiums and various allowances. For 2004, increases will be the same as those agreed upon for the other groups of Hydro-Qub0065c employees. A job evaluation plan will be undertaken jointly by the union and the employer which could give rise to certain salary adjustments at the end of 2003.

This is a good agreement and we have no qualms about recommending it to our members”, said Vincent Trudel, president of CUPE Local 4250 which represents Hydro’s specialists and professionals. The agreement will be voted in secret by the members during a series of meetings to be held between now and July 19, the date on which all ballots will be counted.

In Qub0065c, CUPE represents 17,500 members in the hydroelectric sector. It is also active in 10 other sectors, among others, communications, health and social services, education, universities, municipalities, government corporations and public agencies in Qub0065c, and urban and air transport. With close to 100,000 members in Qub0065c, it is the largest QFL affiliate.
