Canada 3000 isnt the only thing thats bankrupt. With the collapse of Canadas second national airline, its apparent the federal governments air transport policy is too.

Over the past two weeks, weve seen CUPE flight attendants at Canada 3000 make extraordinary efforts to save the company, agreeing to wage rollbacks, a pay freeze, and 500 layoffs. Yet from federal Minister of Transport David Collenette there has been shameful silence.

Canadian taxpayers want to see more than one airline in this country. Canadian travellers want reliable service and reasonable prices. Canadian workers want to see flight attendants and other airline workers receive fair treatment. Theyve already paid too high a price for the turmoil in the industry.

Its time for David Collenette to act. Were calling on CUPE locals from all sectors to help deliver that message. Click here to fax Minister Collenette. Your message will be copied to Human Resources Development Canada Minister Jane Stewart, Industry Minister Brian Tobin, and Labour Minister Claudette Bradshaw.

Please also call Minister Collenette at one of the following phone numbers in the next two days. Its crucial that we send a strong message that we demand immediate federal action to support a second national airline in Canada.
