OTTAWA, Ont. – Mediation talks broke off today without achieving a settlement for Scotiabank Place workers, after management failed to make a fair contract offer. Local 4809 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), representing the 61 conversion staff, will hold a media briefing at 9:00 am on Friday, May 4th, in the Judy Darcy boardroom, at the CUPE Ottawa area office, 20 James Street. The workers have a legal strike or lockout deadline of 12:01 am, May 7th, 2007.
