CUPE is calling on the Senate to pass Bill C-393, an important piece of legislation that would reform Canada’s Access to Medicines Regime (CAMR) and greatly improve the distribution of affordable generic drugs to people living with HIV/AIDS in developing countries.
The bill passed the House of Commons on March 9, but must still clear the Senate before the important changes can be implemented. A looming federal election could stall the bill before it becomes law.
