Members of CUPE 895 who work for Hanmer Bus Lines in Sudbury have now been on the picket line since April 1998. The seventeen members - all of them women and earning $215 a week to drive school buses three hours a day, five days a week - have been locked in a bitter dispute with the employer.

The employer is seeking massive concessions, including cutting wages by as much as 50 per cent and has tried to secure an injunction to prohibit picketing at the job site. The injunction was denied and picketing continues.

To support these workers, contributions to their strike fund can be sent to: CUPE Local 895 - Strike Fund c/o 764 Notre Dame Avenue Unit 5 Sudbury, Ontario P3A 2T4
