The library is the heart of our community, and it is the workers who keep it beating. Right now, the library pages need your support. They have not had a contract for the past three years. In one of the most expensive cities in Canada, they are earning minimum wage, with no health benefits.
We are proud to serve the community we love, but many of us are struggling to get by. With wages that haven’t kept up with inflation, the cost of living crisis is hitting library pages hard. It’s time for the library to ensure livable wages so staff can support our families and our community.
Markham can do better.
