More than a month after they went on strike against McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, 1,400 teaching assistants, members of CUPE 3906, have reached a tentative agreement containing major gains.
The bargaining committee is recommending the three-year deal to the 950 graduate students and 450 undergraduates. Ratification votes are being held January 7 and 8.
The tentative agreement provides increases in five hourly wage categories, as well as improvements to benefits and the contentious issue of protection against tuition increases.
