PETERBOROUGH, ON – Long-term care workers at St. Joseph’s at Fleming will hold an information picket outside their home for the aged on Brealey Drive in Peterborough, tomorrow, Friday, October 21st, from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, to protest management’s refusal to replace workers when they are sick.
“Not replacing workers on sick leave will add to already untenable workloads,” said Candace Rennick, president of Local 2280 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees. “It’s unconscionable for management to cause staff shortages in order to cut costs – resident care should be their first priority.”
The workers will be handing leaflets for friends and family who visit the home Friday.
