For the ninth year in a row, the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) has spearheaded an effort to collect warm socks for Lethbridge and area charities.

Gail Petrie, a retired member of CUPE Local 290, has spearheaded the drive, which has collected over 42,000 socks in previous years. The socks are collected by staff, students and parents in the schools of three local school districts. The socks are passed on to five local charities, Catholic Charities, Salvation Army, Woods Homes, Harbour House and the Homeless Shelter.

CUPE will present the socks to the charitable organizations on December 12.  Local media are welcome to attend.

Date:  Monday, December 12
Time:  10 a.m.
