Sessional lecturers at the University of Qub0065c at Trois-Rivir0065s are on strike, pressing the administration to take seriously the important role sessionals play within the university.
The 330 members of CUPE Local 2661 had been locked out over the summer months but returned to work in September after the dispute was referred to mediation. But with no progress at the bargaining table and only one meeting with the mediator since August 23 the workers decided to strike on November 8.
The main issues are the organization of work, working conditions, the role of sessional lecturers and wages.
More than 550 courses have been effected by the strike, one half of all the courses offered in the fall term.
