SASKATOON: Contract talks between the union representing Saskatoon Public Library workers and library management will continue at 3:00 p.m. this afternoon following the resumption of negotiations this weekend.

Were pleased that talks are continuing, said Gwen Thomson, president of CUPE Local 2669.

Were hopeful that we will be able to reach an agreement that includes a commitment to a pay equity plan that will ensure equal pay for work of equal value for library workers.

Meanwhile, the library workers will hold a rally today at City Hall Square at 5:30 p.m. to kick off Saskatchewan Library week.

President Gwen Thomson will address the rally and report on the progress made at the bargaining table. Supporters from the community will also address the rally. The library workers will attend the 7:00 p.m. city council meeting following the rally.

The 260 library workers are off the job today. It is the ninth day of rotating job action, which began on September 25.

Saskatoon Public Library workers have been without a new agreement for 18 months.
