Saskatchewans provincial parliamentarians are raising their own wages more than twice as much as the increase they granted to public sector workers.

Were very disappointed with the hypocritical position taken by our political representatives, both the New Democratic Party and opposition MLAs, said CUPE Saskatchewan president Tom Graham. In one breath, they say working people have to take 2 per cent over three years and in the next, they line their own pockets with 4.5 per cent over two years.

Over 12,000 CUPE health care workers are facing the provincial wage mandate in contract negotiations with the Saskatchewan Association of Health Organizations. CUPE locals in the municipal, school board, university, library and community-based organization sectors are also facing the wage restrictions.
