Sid Ryan, the Ontario president of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, was named president of the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) at the federation’s biennial convention in Toronto earlier today.

Ryan has been a CUPE member since starting work at Ontario Hydro in 1976.  He became CUPE Ontario president in 1992, where has represented over 225,000 of the province’s public sector workers for the past 17 years.

Under Ryan’s leadership, CUPE Ontario has conducted major campaigns and influenced policy decisions in health care, municipal, school board, social service and university sectors.

CUPE National thanks Sid for his dedication to our union, and wishes him the best of luck in his new post as OFL president.
