CUPE locals are encouraged to send delegates to a national People’s Summit on public health care taking in place in Ottawa in February. And health care locals are urged to attend a national health care conference that’s taking place just before the Summit.
The People’s Summit, slated for February 8 and 9, will help us mobilize and build momentum in defence of public health care. Set to follow the First Ministers’ meeting on health care, the People’s Summit includes workshops and plenary sessions on defending and improving public Medicare, as well as music, comedy and radical cheerleading.
Saturday morning will be an opportunity for people from across the country to meet together, learn what’s happening in different regions and consider a national plan of action.
Afternoon workshops will give participants a chance to share their knowledge and experience and build strategies to implementing the action plan. Regional workshops will be another opportunity to coordinate fightback plans to advance provincial and national campaign objectives.
A plenary on Sunday will finalize and adopt a militant action plan to stop privatization and strengthen public health care.
Those attending the Summit can also take part in a one-day lobby session of MPs on February 10.
You can register for the People’s Summit by completing the form sent to all locals or online at http://www.cupe.ca/campaigns/healthcare/register.asp. The deadline to be guaranteed a hotel room is January 15 so book today!
