Privatization agencies in both Quebec and Saskatchewan closed up shop this month, although neither province has abandoned P3s altogether.

At the beginning of October, the Saskatchewan government announced it was abandoning a fledgling P3 secretariat.  Three weeks later, the Quebec government announced its provincial P3 agency was also closing up shop.

The move is a major blow to privateers in the two provinces, although both governments say they will continue to promote privatization through P3s. CUPE will keep up the pressure on both governments to stop promoting privatization and instead invest in publicly funded and delivered services.
