Area Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) will be joined by RPNs from Stratford, Seaforth, Clinton, St. Marys and Wingham, in Guelph tomorrow (April 7, 2011) at a regional conference focused on quality patient care, RPN skill utilization and sharing best practices.

Increasingly, RPNs are vital members of the health care team in both hospital and long-term care facilities.  There are over 28,800 registered practical nurses (RPNs) working in a variety of health care settings in Ontario.  The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) represents 37.4 per cent – about 10,000 – of the RPN workforce in Ontario.

The CUPE Southwestern Ontario Regional RPN Conference is being held at the Italian Canadian Club of Guelph, 135 Ferguson Street, Guelph, and begins at 10 a.m.

Attention media assignments: RPNs from all the communities identified above are available for interviews with local media.
