Education support workers have been trying to negotiate a new collective agreement and are seeking fairness and equality with other workers in Regina’s public education system.
Contracts for the three education support worker locals (CUPE 650, CUPE 4643 and CUPE 3766) expired on December 31, 2010. The Board gave themselves and other non-unionized support workers in the school division the same 8.63 per cent increase over three years that teachers agreed to, yet are offering only 6 per cent to support workers. Education support workers want to be valued the same as non-union support staff.
