A group of CUPE members will attend the 100th anniversary world congress of Public Services International in Vienna, Austria, Sept. 24-28, 2007.

The CUPE members, part of a larger Canadian delegation including other public sector trade unionists, will participate in workshops and resolution debates at the meeting.

They will be among the more than 1,000 delegates who will discuss how strong public services can meet the big challenges now facing the world.

Top issues: quality public services; equality and diversity; corruption; good governance and global institutions; privatization; public water; respect for workers and their unions; and international solidarity.

CUPE is affiliated to the PSI, which represents more than 20 million public sector workers in 154 countries.
