The CLC has announced a tentative resolution in the dispute between the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW).

President Ken Georgetti welcomed the deal, saying that the agreement will show the world the unity of purpose of democratic unions in this country.

In February 2000, SEIU Canada filed raiding charges against the CAW, resulting in sanctions under the CLC constitution. The two unions have now agreed to a process to resolve the issues between them.

The CLC Executive Council will vote on lifting sanctions now in place on the CAW at its meeting in early June.
