CUPE has criticized a Senate committee report on security at the port of Montra006c saying the conclusions aren’t supported by the evidence.

Pointing out that “for the past 20 years and probably longer, no longshoreman has been convicted of any illegal act whatsoever concerning activities at the port,” Jacques Giroux, president of the Port of Montra006c’s Longshoremen’s Union, expressed concern that the Senate report repeats unfounded allegations of criminal connections among port workers.

Defending security at the port and the integrity of port workers, Giroux called for an end to indiscriminate accusations.

CUPE represents port workers in Montra006c, Qub0065c, Trois-Rivir0065s, Sorel and Matane.
