Today Parliament reconvenes. And the second item on the agenda is free trade with the hemisphere’s worst human rights violator.

Paul Moist and three other union presidents who toured the country in July 2008 have put out a news release denouncing the move.

In the past eight months, 27 trade unionists and more than 77 members from the Indigenous communities have been murdered in Colombia,” Moist said. “Stephen Harper should not be legitimizing these killings by ratifying a free trade agreement with Colombia.

CUPE’s online action targets liberal leader Michael Ignatieff, who campaigned against Colombia Free Trade but has been supporting it since, and Liberal MPs who won their seats by narrow margins.

If you have a Liberal Member of Parliament, please email them about free trade with Colombia.
