TORONTO, ON - Fred Hahn, the president of Ontario’s largest trade union, CUPE Ontario, rejected appeals to vote for second best and announced his decision today to back Joe Pantalone for Mayor of Toronto.

Joe Pantalone is the most committed to public services, has the most experience at getting City Council to work together and will not sell off public assets, his support is growing among those unhappy with Ford or Smitherman and I urge the close to 100,000 members of CUPE who live in Toronto to vote for him as Mayor next Monday,” Hahn said.

I remind all Torontonians it is they, not the pundits, polls and newspapers, that will decide next Monday who becomes Mayor,” Hahn said, “and with the undecided vote starting to shift, there is no reason why we can’t have the best for our city and the best Mayor will be Joe Pantalone.

Hahn says he will personally campaign for Pantalone and plans to be out in his downtown Toronto neighbourhood putting up elections signs this week.

CUPE Ontario is the provinces largest trade union with 230,000 members, including municipal employees in almost every community on the province.
