OKOTOKS, AB – A group of 28 auxiliary nursing employees at Revera Heartland Retirement Living are now represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE).

One hundred percent of valid votes cast were in favour of joining the union that represents five other Revera facilities in the Calgary area.

CUPE Alberta President Marle Roberts said the one sided vote reflects the job CUPE is doing at other Revera worksites.

This is an industry where the jobs are very hard and the pay and benefits are very low,” said Roberts.  “As the largest union in Canada, CUPE has the resources necessary to improve the working conditions of these employees.”
