(New Glasgow) - Technologists at the Aberdeen Hospital walk around their worksite at noon today to show they are not happy with what the politicians have been saying about their jobs. There is a crisis in the profession in the area of retention and recruitment. The Tories and Liberals dont seem to take the matter seriously. The NDP seems to understand there is a problem but need to put more effort into a solution.

Being a Doctor and being from this hospital, John Hamm should be the first to understand the problem but he hasnt done anything in four years in government, says X-ray Tech. and CUPE Local 2525 President Karen MacKenzie. The people I work with are fed-up! It will take 10 more years to train 88 lab technologists and Hamm should know that, and what is his proposal for other areas like radiology?

CUPE, CAW and NSGEU represents technologists across the province. They have written a joint letter to the party leaders asking them to give details and show they understand how important the issue is.

How the Parties respond to this issue will have a big impact on how our members decide to vote, says MacKenzie. Were tired and frustrated and we want answers now.
