A general meeting of members of SEVL-CUPE 2815, the union representing Videotron Ltd. Workers, was held on Sunday, May 4, 2025 to take a vote on whether to begin negotiation of their collective agreement early.

Although the contract is not due to expire until next December 31, the parties on both sides agreed to obtain a mandate to begin negotiations as soon as possible.

Around 97% of the members in attendance voted in favour of the mandate. SEVL-CUPE 2815 will begin the work leading up to the start of this negotiation right away and hopes to begin talks in June.

What we’re starting with our members is a new approach that is proactive, transparent and future-oriented.  In order to be part of the process, we believe it will be beneficial to begin early talks with the employer to renew our collective agreement,” explained Roger Boudreau, president of SEVL-SCFP 2815.

We understand that the industry is currently facing numerous challenges, and we want to work toward finding solutions, while at the same time making concrete gains for our members,” said Boudreau

In a gesture of openness, a first meeting was held on April 10 between Pierre Karl Péladeau, President and CEO of Quebécor, and Roger Boudreau, who was recently elected president of the union that represents 2500 workers.
