Our National Executive Board (NEB) met December 12-14, 2022 in Ottawa. These are the highlights of their deliberations and decisions.

The Board observed a minute of silence to reflect upon the loss of members of our CUPE family. Remembered were: Francine Bédard, Local 1179; Bonnie Phillpot, Local 8443; Cheryl Kowalik, Local 911; Sandy Wilson, Local 2784; Kong Chung, Local 2316; Lucie E. 2024 Budget
Locals are making gains at the bargaining table, and our organizing department continues to grow our union. This allows us to commit the projected revenue growth of 2024 into resources that will help us to better serve our growing and increasingly militant membership. The 2024 budget was adopted by the NEB after extensive consultations with regional divisions and departments. CUPE’s 2024 budget is creative, progressive, forward thinking and represents a historic and necessary investment, one we hope will respond to our members’ needs at a time of unprecedented economic and political challenges.
Our 2024 budget includes over 50 new staff positions across the country, and increased resources allocated to divisions to launch campaigns and respond to regional priorities. The budget also provides increased funding for political action and resources to fund the opening of the Office for the Prevention of Sexual Harassment and Gender-Based Violence. Finally, the budget provides funding to the initiatives and national campaigns mandated by our recent National Convention.
Financial Support
The National Executive Board approved 24 cost-share campaign requests totaling $3,033,077.15, and three requests for legal and arbitration support, totaling $180,000.
