Blue-and white-collar workers in the Municipality of Saint-Félix-de-Valois in the Lanaudière region recently organized a mobilization picnic in the parking lot of the town hall to demand a premium matching the rate of the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
Gathered together under a banner sporting the message, “It’s not enough without CPI,” the members wanted to raise the awareness of the municipal administration of the financial difficulties they are going through. These workers cannot wait until the renewal of their collective agreement scheduled for 2025.
“During the last negotiations, we took yet another step forward to obtain better wages. That is why we are still demanding that municipal council review its position not to provide any additional salary assistance. It’s no surprise that we’ve had such a high turnover of personnel,” explained Philippe Gravel, President of CUPE 4446.
