TORONTO – The Canadian Union of Public Employees’ (CUPE) National President Paul Moist and National Secretary-Treasurer Claude Généreux will join striking CUPE 79 and CUPE 416 members and their supporters for a rally in front of Toronto City Hall, Nathan Phillips Square, on Wednesday, June 24, at 11:00 a.m.
“The city’s long list of concession demands will gut our contracts of basic collective agreement rights. This is an issue of fairness. We want to get back to work, but first we need the City of Toronto to respect our workers,” said Moist.
Twenty-four thousand City of Toronto inside and outside workers have been on strike since June 22, defending their collective agreements against rollbacks demanded by the City.
