CUPE 5430 is recognizing Health Care Provider Week with a Day of Action at the Legislature on Oct. 28 to demand a fair contract.
“Each year, Health Care Provider Week is a time to celebrate the 14,000 dedicated CUPE health care workers providing vital care and services in communities across Saskatchewan,” said CUPE 5430 President Bashir Jalloh. “This week should be one of celebration, but unfortunately, we must also use this opportunity to send a message to the provincial government. After four and a half years without a wage increase, our members deserve so much better.”
On Wednesday, Oct. 28, hundreds of health care workers will rally on the steps of the legislature over the lunch hour to demand a fair contract. CUPE 5430 members have been without a contract since March 31, 2023.
“The health care providers holding Saskatchewan’s health system deserve to be celebrated. They also deserve respect in their workplaces, decent working conditions and wages to support their families. That’s what we are fighting for,” added Jalloh.
