Yesterday, four CUPE locals signed collective agreements with the Casino du Lac-Leamy, in Gatineau. The contracts cover salaried workers of the general unit (CUPE 3892), the security unit (CUPE 3959), the surveillance unit (CUPE 3959) and the croupiers (CUPE 3993).
The contracts are all six-year agreements, running from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2031. The first three units achieved wage increases of 3.5 %, 4 %, 3.5 %, 3 %, 3 % and 2.5 %. For the last unit, wage increases were 3 %, 3 %, 3 %, 3 %, 3 % and 2.5 %. In other good news, major poker tournaments are coming back.
“We achieved our bargaining goal, which was to harmonize our collective agreement with the others. We are satisfied with the result. The issue of bringing back international poker tournaments was also won, which is very significant to us financially,” said François Shooner, CUPE 3993 president.
“The bargaining process lasted more than six months! We had sometimes positive, sometimes negative discussions, but at the end of the day, we were able to reach agreement on the issues that were a priority for both parties,” said Richard Crête, CUPE 3892 president.
“It was a long and at times difficult bargaining round, but the exchanges were always done in a respectful manner, and that was important to us. The result is not perfect, but very acceptable. I am happy that our members unanimously ratified the new collective agreements,” explained CUPE 3959 president Martin Carrière, in closing.
