Who:
New Brunswick Council of Nursing Home Unions (NBCNHU), comprised of 35 Locals of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) and representing 2,500 members across the province.

What:
Media Conference

Where:
Fredericton Inn, 1315 Regent Street, Fredericton

When:
10:00 am, Wednesday, June 27

Why:
The NBCNHU has been forced to walk out of contract negotiations. Despite the assistance of a conciliator, no progress has been possible due to the unwillingness of the employer and the province to address the unions most important concerns.

Outstanding issues are primarily related to workload and its effect on quality of care, and include staffing standards (short-staffing has become the norm rather than the exception), sick days, pensions and wages.
