FREDERICTON - The union representing the New Brunswick paramedics is concerned with the number of accidents in recent weeks involving ambulances.

“We have had three accidents in less than a week. We were very fortunate that no patient was on board at the time and no paramedic was hurt. Nevertheless, our members have raised some concern over the selection of tires that New Brunswick EMS has made for use on the new ambulances”, explained Ralph McBride, CUPE Representative.

New Brunswick EMS and CUPE have agreed to put together a study group to examine the issue of the paramedics’ and patients’ safety. This working group will also study the driving policy procedures, the driving abilities and the vehicle stability in extreme driving conditions.
